Many African Americans have expressed outrage over the casting of Zoe Saldana of Puerto Rican and Dominican heritage to play the dearly departed African American singer/activist Nina Simone. In support, Hispanic comedian Aida Rodriguez has also expressed her outage over the casting.

  1. Zoe should have listened to her gut which told her not to play Nina Simone. The African actor, Oyewelo should also be criticized and condemned too. Obviously, it did not faze him to add to the insult and injury of Nina Simone by contributing to this f #####%*ked up mess of a movie!!!!! I salute Ms. Rodriquez and the young African female ( couson of Oyewelo ) for taking a stand against this sh#####t of a flick!!!! I don’t usually swear, but I’m expressing how angry and outraged I am over Zoe’s role and screwed up ignorant attitude over this whole controversy. Kola Boof — you told her —– you said you ‘”lost all respect'” towards Zoe. Well I’m with you.
